Today was an interesting day. We played a game called Sports Max all morning were we pretended to go to the gym over and over and work out to different routines. We also bowled and played football to the High School Musical soundtrack.
Then the biggest part of the day was spent at a birthday party for one of Benny the Jet’s friends. Kids from age six and lower running around and screaming. It was madness enhanced by the presence of the lamest clown I have ever seen. He had a Walmart costume with a big hat and no wig. His face paint consisted of the outline of a black heart around one eye and a random shape around the other. He did have big shoes so I guess that is good. He played games and tried his best to entertain the mob while they chanted over and over “Clown.” This free-for-all was amplified with the soundtrack of classic kiddy songs such as ‘5 Monkeys jumping on a bed’, ‘Row Row Row your boat’, and the all time favorite ‘Old McDonald’. I felt bad for the clown and I don’t even like clowns. I think they are creepy. It really should have been the 7th level of hell but I had fun. I laughed a lot at how absurd the scene was. Benny’s friend Mogely, his sister, mom, and the Chemist were all there so that was nice also. It was sad though to see the parents almost totally disengaged. I don’t want to miss out cutting my child’s 6th birthday cake. I don’t want to miss one moment of the madness of that day. It reminded me of my birthday party were I invited my entire kindergarten class. Mom and Dad hats off because you are truly brave and thanks for cutting my cake and playing the games with me.
Also at this party I discovered that Sperry shoes might be meant to grip a wet boat deck but not wet Bermuda grass. While playing soccer at the party I slipped and totally ate it. I landed flat on my back with one side of my body in a bush in front of three nannies and two grandfathers. They all thought it was very funny that the silly American fell while playing football. Luckily the only thing injured was my pride. Hmmm.
On the Brightside I had Dominos for dinner tonight. Pepperoni because it was Caitlin’s favorite. Java thought I would like it also and he was right. He is very thoughtful. Then while watching Turkish tv and advertisement for Brittan’s Got Talent came on with the clip from when Susan Boyles sang. That performance gets me every time. It was weird to see it on Turkish tv but I didn’t care because it was awesome!
Mrs. Kwan was driving me nuts tonight because she won’t let me put the kids to bed. It was time and then they would wine so she would be like ok a few more minutes. It went on until 11. These kids have school in a day and are both fighting colds. They need to be well rested. It also doesn’t help my authority any when I am constantly undermined. If it was their mom that would be one thing but its not and what’s more is I know their mom would freak if she knew they were up so late. Oh well. Live love.
Banner Song
The banner song is really only a section from The Prince of Egypt song “There can Be Miracles”. When I was given this song I didn’t know what the Hebrew meant. When I read the translation for the first time I cried. This is God’s promise for my time here. Less than a year I am praying.
A-shi-ra la-do-nai ki ga-oh ga-ah
(I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously)
A-shi-ra la-do-nai ki ga-oh ga-ah
(I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously)
Mi-cha-mo-cha ba-elim adonai
(Who is like You, oh Lord, among the celestial)
Mi-ka-mo-cha ne-dar- ba-ko-desh
(Who is like You, majestic in holiness)
Na-chi-tah v'-chas-d'-cha am zu ga-al-ta
(In Your love, You lead the people You redeemed)
Na-chi-tah v'-chas-d'-cha am zu ga-al-ta
(In Your love, You lead the people You redeemed)
A-shi-ra, a-shi-ra, a-shi-ra...
(I will sing, I will sing, I will sing)
